Product Development Manager – Electronics Systems
Exempt Status: Full Time, Exempt
Location: Portland, OR
Liquid Wire is revolutionizing electronics with its patented Metal Gel™ technology, creating stretchable, durable, and highly conductive circuits. Unlike traditional electronics, Liquid Wire’s solutions are immune to vibration and deformation and endure constant movement making them ideal for demanding applications in robotics, wearables, medical devices, and military applications.
We’re seeking a Product Development Manager to drive the development of innovative products from concept to market. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep product management expertise and a strong understanding of system-level product development.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Execution
- Own the product lifecycle from concept to market launch for electronics systems embedded in robotics and other applications
- Partner with engineering to define product requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Define and manage product development roadmaps, aligning with business goals and customer needs.
- Monitor product performance metrics, ensuring products meet business KPIs.
- Advocate for customers while balancing trade-offs in a dynamic environment.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and market fit.
- Serve as the primary interface between engineering and business teams, ensuring alignment on product development priorities.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback, refining product requirements accordingly.
System-Level Product Development
- Lead the development of electronics systems, ensuring seamless integration of hardware and firmware.
- Manage cross-disciplinary challenges, including mechanical, electrical, and embedded components, to deliver robust solutions.
Project Management
- Oversee timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
- Implement best practices in product management, driving cross-functional teams to successful outcomes.
Qualifications
Product Management Experience
- Proven track record as a Product Development Manager in an engineering-focused company.
- Experience managing the development of physical devices where electronics are a critical component, with embedded systems experience preferred.
- System-level product management expertise is essential; experience limited to PCBs, FPCs, or software is not sufficient.
Technical & Industry Knowledge
- Familiarity with robotics is a plus but not mandatory; the ability to learn and adapt quickly is essential.
- Strong understanding of system-level design challenges, including hardware, embedded firmware, and integration.
Project Leadership
- Demonstrated ability to take products from concept to market, with experience managing multiple successful product launches.
- Proficiency in managing complex, cross-disciplinary projects with competing priorities.
Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to align cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering practical, market-ready solutions.
